“Life is hard. Sometimes games are hard, and that just reminds me that life is hard, and then everything feels too damn hard. Not early access city-builder Dorfromantik, though. That game is just the right amount of chill.”
Kotaku

“Dorfromantik is like Zen-Gaming for Landscape-artists.”

“Dorfromantik activates what I think of as my meditative lizard brain, thanks to the tiny thrill of getting those hexes to fit together. It’s well-suited to casual engagement, and challenging enough for the score obsessed (myself included) to play it over and over.”

In Islanders, players earn points by strategically placing buildings from their inventory onto a procedurally generated island. Earning points restocks the building inventory, eventually unlocking new types of buildings and the ability to move to a new island and continue the session. The session ends when no more points can be gained because no buildings are available or there is no space to place them. The overall goal of the game is to obtain the highest score possible in a single session. on 26 August 2021.

Critical reception of Islanders was generally positive. Most reviews highlighted elements of the game’s minimalist design: low poly visuals, relaxing sound design, and simple yet engaging gameplay mechanics. These same attributes also attracted a degree of criticism from reviewers who felt there was room for more complexity. In April 2019, Islanders was one of the top twenty best-selling games on Steam. Several video game journalists placed it on lists of favorites for 2019. (wiki)

Townscaper is an indie city builder video game. It was released for PC and Mac on the Steam platform in August 2021 by developer Oskar Stålberg. A port to the Nintendo Switch was released in August 2021, alongside which the Steam version left early access. The mobile version was released in October 2021. It was later ported to Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and web browsers (as a demo) in December 2021. It features low poly graphics and a simple, minimalist user interface.

Townscaper has no inherent objective or story and has been described by developer Stålberg as “more of a toy” than a game. Users construct an island town by placing and removing colored blocks on an ocean. Various “rules” dictate these blocks’ appearances, with some appearing as spires and others as balconies. This method of rule-based decoration allows archesgardens, and stairways to be created without specific user instruction.

Townscaper takes place on a large distorted grid set in an infinite sea. This allows for towns that feel more organic and unstructured when compared to similar games that are based on regular grids. (wiki)

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS (Windows/MINIMUM): Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system / OS: Windows 7+ / Memory: 4 GB RAM / DirectX: Version 11 / Storage: 1 GB available space

la-linea-volume-1

La Linea (“The Line”) is an Italian animated series created by the Italian cartoonist Osvaldo Cavandoli. The series consists of 90 episodes, which were originally broadcast on the Italian channel RAI between 1971 and 1986. All episodes were short subjects, ranging from 2:28 to 6:37 in runtime. Over the years the series aired in more than 40 countries around the world. The background tune for the series was created by Franco Godi. The character  was voiced by Carlo Bonomi in a mock version of Milanese that resembled gibberish as much as possible, giving the cartoon the possibility to be easily exported without dubbing. The voice resembles Pingu‘s, the Swiss animated penguin, which was also voiced by Bonomi. Cavandoli also adapted his animated cartoon series into a comic strip.
