0305 – Ori and the Blind Forest (2015 video game)

Ori and the Blind Forest is a platform-adventure Metroidvania video game developed by Moon Studios and published by Microsoft Studios. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One on March 2015. In the game, players assume control of Ori, a white guardian spirit, and Sein, the “light and eyes” of the Forest’s Spirit Tree. To progress in the game, players are tasked to move between platforms and solve puzzles. The game features a system called “soul links”, which allows players to save at will, and an upgrade system that gives players the ability to strengthen Ori’s skills.

A sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, was announced during Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017. A Definitive Edition was released in 2016.

Son of the White Mare (Hungarian: Fehérlófia) is a 1981 Hungarian experimental, full-feature, pop-art/folk-art fairy-tale / animated adventure film directed by Marcell Jankovics  The story’s main character is Fehérlófia (Son of the White Mare), who is a man with superhuman power. Based on the work of László Arany and ancient Hunnic and Avaric legends, Fehérlófia is a tribute to the old steppe peoples. There are slight differences between Arany’s work and the movie – for example, in the movie, Fehérlófia (Son of the White Mare, protagonist) and Fanyűvő (Treetearer) are the same person. There are also references to ancient origin legends: Ősanya (Progenitrix), Ősapa (Forefather), and the Világfa (World tree).

The film was made from 1979 to 1981. It is the second animated feature-length film of Jankovics and Pannónia Filmmstúdió.

Over the Garden Wall is an American animated television miniseries created by Patrick McHale for Cartoon Network. The series centers on  two half-brothers who travel across a strange forest in order to find their way home, encountering odd and wonderful things on their journey. The show is based on McHale’s animated short film Tome of the Unknown, which was produced as part of Cartoon Network Studios‘ shorts development program. The show features Elijah Wood and Collin Dean as the protagonists Wirt and Greg, and Melanie Lynskey as a bluebird named Beatrice. Over the Garden Wall was broadcast throughout the week of November 3, 2014 to November 7, 2014.

The series’ environment evokes 19th- and 20th-century Americana, while its digital backgrounds are designed to resemble grisaille paintings.
