timespace coordinates: In the near future the world is divided between those who live “inside”, in high-density cities, and the poor underclass who live “outside.” Access to the cities is highly restricted and regulated through the use of health documents, known as “papeles” in the global pidgin language of the day (composed of elements of English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Italian, Farsi and Mandarin).
Most city residents venture outside only after dark since direct sunlight is now considered hazardous to their health. However, a few residents still venture outdoors during the day. The government appears to be authoritarian and dystopian. Society is regulated by various “codes”. The code of the movie title prohibits “genetically incestuous reproduction”, which may occur as a result of the various medical technologies which have become commonplace, such as cloning.
William Geld (Tim Robbins), an insurance fraud investigator, is sent to Shanghai to interview employees at a company known as “The Sphinx”, which manufactures “covers”, ostensibly “insurance cover documents” but which in fact regulate the movements of people among cities and “inside” and “outside”.
Code 46 is a 2003 British film directed by Michael Winterbottom, with screenplay by Frank Cottrell Boyce. It was produced by BBC Films and Revolution Films. It is a dystopic science fiction love story exploring the implications of current trends in biotechnology.

Some things in the film are exaggerated (like the Hunt–Lauda rivalry; in reality they had shared a flat early in their careers and were good friends), others downplayed (like Lauda’s wife’s shock at his disfigurement), and others invented (like Hunt beating up a reporter or the Nürburgring nickname being “the graveyard”; in fact Jackie Stewart had nicknamed it “the Green Hell”). Cuphead is a classic run and gun video game developed and published by StudioMDHR. Announced in 2013, the game was released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One in September 2017, for macOS in October 2018, and for Nintendo Switch in April 2019. The game was inspired by the rubber hose style of animation used in cartoons of the 1930s, (created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.) such as the work of studios Fleischer and Walt Disney Animation, and seeks to emulate their subversive and surrealist qualities.
Cuphead features one or two players taking control of animated characters Cuphead and his brother Mugman to fight through several levels that culminate in boss fights as to repay their debt to the devil.
The game was praised for its art style and noted for its challenging difficulty. It was both a critical and commercial success, winning several awards and selling over four million copies by July 2019. An animated series based on the game is in production by Netflix. (wiki)
